- WHAT IS PORCELAIN ENAMEL ON CAST IRON? It is a type of glass that becomes bonded to the cast iron when exposed to high temperatures. A glass particulate called frit is applied to the cast iron vessel and then subjected to baking temperatures ranging from 1200 to 1400° F. The glass frit melts and fuses with the cast iron, creating a strong bond. Porcelain enamel on cast iron is heat tolerant and resistant to water and other substances.
- EASY COOKING AND CLEANING: The porcelain enameled interior has a smooth finish that prevents sticking, enhances caramelization, and resists staining. While the enameled cast iron is dishwasher safe, it is recommended to hand wash it with warm soapy water and a nylon scrub brush to maintain its excellent condition.
